Working with wood has been a part of my life since I was 10 years old. My father and grandfather specialized in pieced wood projects, as I do with rolling pins. It' been a job, a hobby, a construction business, and a craft. A growing tree produces living art which we must cut and shape to see its beauty. I've enjoyed seeing nature's art when boards are cut from a log. I can see the pattern and imagine a project to fit it.Rolling pins are my work of art made from wood. I enjoy the process of cutting and piecing a variety of woods into unique patterns that make the blanks that become the rolling pins. After many steps of cutting and laminating, I turn the blanks on a lathe, finally reveling the color, design, and beauty of the finished piece.Each piece is a single work, no two are exactly alike.
