Rooted in Southern Minnesota heritage since 1947, The Good Schmidt proudly carries forward the legacy of Schmidt’s Meat Market—a name built on good products, good people, and good service.In 1947, Gerhardt and Esther Schmidt took a leap toward the American dream. Gerhardt, a skilled meat cutter, was encouraged by Esther to open a shop of their own. When they found a local butcher shop for sale but couldn’t afford it, a generous farmer—determined to keep the town’s butcher—loaned them the money with nothing more than a handshake. On Friday, June 13, 1947, Schmidt’s Meat Market opened its doors in Nicollet, Minnesota.Through hard work, family values, and their signature German smokehouse flavor, Gerhardt and Esther built more than a business—they built a legacy. Generations later, Cheryl Schmidt Davis proudly continues that story with The Good Schmidt, a line of bold, smoky sauces crafted to bring people together around great food.From our kitchen to yours, we’re here to keep the Schmidt tradition alive—one bottle at a time.
